Momentum Youth Work Network In-person SEND Session

This time as voted for by the network, we’ll be looking at how we can best support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
If you have examples of great support tools you’ve used in the past, then please bring them with you to share with others. Or if you have a story of a time when it maybe didn’t go so well, you’re welcome to share that too so others can learn with you (no judgment of course!).

- Jacqui Starling (Director, Lola Stafford Consulting Ltd)
Jacqui started Lola Stafford Consulting Ltd 11 years ago! Lola Stafford’s youth projects have met many young people who fall through gaps in provision or get overlooked because they are assumed to be “fine” or getting appropriate support when they are struggling but don’t get flagged up for help. Their aim is always to provide support where others don’t. Projects include Social F.I.E.L.D SEN youth club and school & community-based provision to improve resilience and build confidence with careers coaching built-in including REAP, Future Booster, SMILE, SENSMILE, and EHCP mentoring programme.
- Young Commissioners (Youth Advisory Board, MAP)
Young Commissioners will be talking to us about their new campaign ‘Everyone Has The Right To Play’. This is leading a campaign to make playgrounds inclusive for all. They believe that play spaces should be accessible to all, regardless of ability or disability, so that families and friends with different access needs can play alongside each other in public spaces. The Young Commissioners are championing organisations, businesses, and institutions to join them in making the following commitment: Pledge to make all play areas accessible, inclusive, and safe environments that challenge, excite, stimulate, and promote the interaction of all young people of all abilities.
