Give it a Go: Volunteering Extravaganza

Give It A Go! Volunteering Extravaganza

Voluntary Norfolk Communities Team is planning an exciting volunteer recruitment and celebration event to mark the 40th anniversary of Volunteers’ Week (3rd – 9th June) and the Big Help Out 2024 (7th – 9th June). Our Give it a Go! Volunteering Extravaganza will be held on 7th June 10:30am-4pm at the Forum, Norwich – this is not just a volunteers fair but an Extravaganza with activities to help potential volunteers understand organisations’ mission and how they can “give it a go”.

We’re inviting organisations to share what they do and get visitors involved through interactive stalls or “activity spaces”, rather than the traditional stand-behind-a-table approach! There will also be a programme of short talks by volunteers about their experiences in our Voice of Volunteers space.  There is a fee of £20 for booking a space, contributing to our venue & promotion costs. But, if you can’t afford the payment or can’t commit to the whole day, we’re offering smaller organisations space in our drop-in Chatty Zone, free of charge.

To find out more, take a look at our Eventbrite page or email communities@voluntarynorfolk.org.uk

We already have 25 organisations signed up – spaces are now very limited, so book soon! Activities being offered so far include seed sowing; table-top printing; bird box-making and CPR demonstrations!

The Extravaganza will be publicised widely in the media, to volunteers registered on GetInVOLved, in community spaces, and through our partners around the county. Closer to the date, we’ll provide promotional material which you can share on your social media, newsletters and to clients and service users.

Give it a Go around Norfolk!

If taking part in the Extravaganza is not for you, why not consider holding a taster session or open day at your local venue to publicise what you do and attract new volunteers. If you let us know what you are planning, we will send you the Give it a Go! branding to use on your publicity material and website, and we can include your event in the media campaign. Add your event to Get InVOLved Norfolk as a “community event” so we can filter it onto our ‘Volunteers Week’ page and promote it on a map of events.

We want to highlight that volunteering is open and accessible to all; that volunteering is fun and beneficial to volunteers’ wellbeing; and that it helps individuals build skills and personal development. Join us to showcase your organisation and promote the wonderful opportunities for volunteering around Norfolk!
