The King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS)

Do you know an organisation that works with outstanding volunteers? Does an organisation you know make a big difference to the local community? Well this is where the King’s Award for Voluntary Service could be of interest.

Previously known as The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service (QAVS), this Award has been shining a light on the fantastic work of voluntary groups from across the UK since 2002. Equivalent to an MBE, the King’s Award for Voluntary Service (KAVS) is awarded to a whole organisation for life. Last year, only 2 organisations in Norfolk were awarded KAVS, but we feel there are many more fantastic organisations locally who could be nominated and their work in the community recognised.

We were joined by Stewart Blackburn, Deputy Lieutenant for Norfolk and the lead on the KAVS in Norfolk, for a webinar on 9th October. Stewart provided an overview of the Award, the eligibility criteria and nomination process, plus the benefits to voluntary organisations of getting involved. You can catch up on the webinar recording here.
