As we approach the end of 2024, we’re proud to look back on the remarkable progress made by the Empowering Communities Partnership (EC) and Voluntary Norfolk’s GetInVOLved Norfolk volunteering platform. This year has been filled with opportunities to connect, collaborate, and make a difference across Norfolk. Here’s a look at what we’ve accomplished together.
Empowering Communities Partnership: Strengthening Connections
The EC Partnership has been at the heart of empowering voluntary, community, and social enterprise (VCSE) organisations across Norfolk. Through a variety of events, networking opportunities, and resources, EC has strengthened connections and created new opportunities for collaboration.
- 44 events hosted. EC organised 44 events, engaging the local communities, businesses, councils, statutory services and VCSE organisations to foster collaboration and share best practices.
- 500+ attendees. Over 500 people attended our events, showing the vibrant interest in community action and the voluntary sector.
- 230+ organisations involved. EC provided opportunities for 230 organisations to connect, share, and learn from each other, building a stronger network.
One of the highlights of 2024 was our Volunteering Extravaganza, which attracted 1,200 visitors. This event included interactive displays from 50 VCSE organisations who showcased the breadth of volunteering opportunities available in Norfolk. Attendees found out about how they can get involved in meaningful, local causes.
Additionally, our first corporate-VCSE networking event was a success, with 45 participants. This gathering aimed to bridge the gap between the corporate sector and voluntary organisations, encouraging collaboration and support.
Our online presence also saw impressive engagement, with our Padlets (virtual community boards) being viewed over 9,000 times. This is a clear indication of the interest in shared resources and support offered by EC.
Moreover, we responded to over 475 enquiries, helping organisations to grow, make connections and develop best practice in the voluntary sector.
In 2024, we welcomed 552 new members across our various networks, including the Voluntary Norfolk Network, Leadership Network, Volunteer Coordinators Network, NCAN Strategic Partnership, and FUSE Network. Each of these groups plays a vital role in supporting Norfolk’s communities and strengthening collaboration across sectors.
GetInVOLved Norfolk: Expanding Volunteering Opportunities
Despite the challenges we know exist recruiting and retaining volunteers, Voluntary Norfolk’s GetInVOLved Norfolk platform continues to thrive as a central hub for volunteering in the region. This year has seen an incredible number of new opportunities and volunteers engaging with the platform:
- 616 new volunteering opportunities listed. Throughout 2024, more than 600 fresh opportunities were made available to those looking to volunteer in Norfolk, covering a wide range of roles and causes.
- 3,335 new applications. Interest in volunteering was strong, with over 3,000 people applying for roles that allow them to make a positive impact in their communities.
- 2,739 new users (volunteers). Nearly 3,000 individuals signed up to GetInVOLved Norfolk this year, eager to get involved and contribute to the various communities across our county.
- 182 new users (organisations). The platform also attracted 182 new organisations looking to connect with volunteers, expanding the range of causes and projects open to the public.
Additionally, the EC Partnership worked with over 1,000 organisations throughout the year. We offered resources, support, and networking opportunities to help them thrive.
Looking Ahead
2024 has been a year of challenges for communities across Norfolk. But it has also been a year growth and success. Through hosting events, building networks, and creating opportunities for volunteering, we’ve helped connect thousands of individuals and organisations committed to making a difference across our county and even beyond.
As we move into 2025, we’re excited to continue this work—empowering communities, fostering collaboration, and supporting Norfolk’s VCSE sector.
