Working with volunteers

We aim to support the VCSE sector and statutory partners to work with volunteers in a way that enables volunteers to contribute in a way that is meaningful for them, so that volunteers feel well supported, and VCSE organisations can build their capacity and feel confident that they are providing the best support possible to their volunteers, and in turn the communities they support.

Volunteer Recruitment

One of the best ways of volunteer recruitment is by advertising your roles on the volunteering portal Get InVOLved Norfolk.

It is easy for volunteers to search for a role that is right for them and has roles for all interests, whether that be conservation or campaigning, computers or community work, working in a charity shop or a food bank.

Once you have registered your organisation you can post your roles to the platform and volunteers can approach you directly. You can also reach out to volunteers who have registered.

“We have reached new volunteers through Voluntary Norfolk’s Get InVOLved website which has given us fantastic individuals with many skills to share that have benefited our organisation. “Clare Francis, New-U Enterprises Ltd

“This platform has been an absolute lifeline to us as a charity, we had no committee in Norfolk and we now have a really positive eager committee thanks to GetInVOLved.”Laura Darby, Crimestoppers

Volunteer Management

Our lead partner, Voluntary Norfolk, has many years of experience of recruiting volunteers and volunteer management. If you work with volunteers, join our Volunteer Coordinators Network to connect with peers, share learning and find solutions to everyday challenges. To find details of the next Volunteer Coordinators Meeting check the events calendar.

A variety of resources are available on the Get InVOLved Skills platform, covering different aspects of volunteer management – from training and inducting volunteers, to policies, insurance, safeguarding, and strategies for recruiting and retention. The site also showcases training opportunities which support volunteer managers and coordinators.

Please get in touch if you have any feedback or questions about these resources.
