Prepare for winter: Tackling the cost of living crisis

We are all aware of the increasing challenges ahead, not least those resulting from the escalating cost of living crisis. Local charities and community groups will play a key role in supporting people as they feel the impact of rising fuel prices and inflation – and in helping prepare you for this work the Norfolk Community Foundation (NCF) have launched two funds:

The Household Support Fund

Grants of up to £2,000 are available to support vulnerable members of our communities who have been facing particular challenges with the cost of living. Funded through the Norfolk County Council Cost of Living Support Scheme, the fund will predominantly support older people, aged 65 and over, however, a smaller proportion of the funding will be available for adults and children with disabilities and carers. Grants of £50 per household can cover regular outgoing payments which are made to keep a household running, this can include energy and heating bills, winter warmth essentials and broadband/Wi- Fi bills.

Empowering Communities for Winter Resilience

Grants of up to £10,000 are available to develop ideas and ways of working to build resilience to alleviate the pressures of winter. The fund has been created to help VCSE organisations across Norfolk to build their resilience to be ready for the challenges of winter and to give them the capacity to support vulnerable people in our communities to stay safe, especially as they deal with the cost of living crisis.
