Focus on the cost of living crisis

We seek to give you regular snapshots of referral trends in Norfolk, taken from the NCAN referral system, to capture the pressures on our communities and highlight their needs, especially in relation to the cost of living crisis.

Financial capability referrals, whether it’s debt, welfare benefits or money matters have soared since the beginning of the year (+55% in May vs January)

This is why the next NCAN Strategic Partnership meeting will focus on the cost of living crisis. The date is 10 August 2022 10:00-11:30 on Teams. To join you may click this link. For a calendar invite please email info@ncan.co.uk

Financial capability referrals have increased steadily since the beginning of the year. Alongside them, referrals for mental health and social isolation support follow a similar pattern (+52% in May vs January).

To help people facing financial hardship, several NCAN organisations provide Advice Quality Standard accredited debt advice (Norfolk Community Law Service, Norfolk Citizens Advice, Diss and Thetford Citizens Advice, Shelter, MAP and The Money Advice Hub). Norfolk Citizens Advice have also opened the ‘’Norfolk Warm and Wise’’ service to help people manage their energy bills following the increase in gas and electricity prices as well as fuel.
